LochNess

LochNess is something like a "dynamic loudness enhancer" and can be used to enhance single sounds as well as the master mix.
Although it is not a maximizer in any sense the results are similar.

The device is very low on dsp usage.

The sound is improved by raising the highs and lows (like it is known from the loudness button on the hifi gear), but only if they decrease in volume.
This leads to a more dense sound and therefor to more perceived loudness, because it raises the volume above/below the given frequency only at lower volume.

In contrast to a (multi) compressor the signal isn't compressed to achieve more perceived loudness, because only quiter passages are boosted.

Of course there are many more things possible than only to enhance the sound. Due to wide control ranges it also lets you create some weird and unusual results. (e.g. with a long attack time)

Applications are for example old tape tracks as well as dull sounding synths or to enhance recorded vocals, where a rerecording is not possible.
Instead of using a compressor to align a special sound with the mix, you can easily use LochNess, to make the track/sound in question fit better to the overall sound by just four controls (frequency and treshold).

This makes mixing a new experience and results in a very fast workflow !!

LochNess is available as stereo and mono version,
the demo as stereo version only.

Version v1.1 added a graphic eq curve to show, what's going on.
